Kexing Biopharm and Xinhua Pharmaceutical Deepen International Cooperation to Advance a Cardiovascular Drug (High-Purity EPA) to Saudi Arabia and the UAE

Recently, Kexing Biopharm and Shandong Xinhua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. ("Xinhua Pharmaceutical", 000756.SZ) further strengthened their partnership by reaching a cooperation agreement to commercialize Icosapent Ethyl Soft Capsules in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This collaboration follows the successful partnership on Sevelamer Carbonate Tablets and represents another important milestone in jointly advancing high-purity EPA formulations into two of the Middle East's most important pharmaceutical markets.

In June 2025, Xinhua Pharmaceutical's Icosapent Ethyl Soft Capsules received a Drug Registration Certificate from China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), marking the achievement of full-chain domestic control over the product, from active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) production to finished dosage formulation. The product has also been submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for registration.

Icosapent Ethyl is a highly purified Omega-3 fatty acid ethyl ester medication primarily indicated, in combination with dietary management, for reducing triglyceride levels in adult patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia (≥500 mg/dL). It is also indicated for use in combination with statin therapy in adult patients with established cardiovascular disease or diabetes mellitus accompanied by two or more additional cardiovascular risk factors and elevated triglyceride levels (≥150 mg/dL), helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events.

Cardiovascular therapeutics have long been one of the key strengths of China's pharmaceutical industry. The introduction of Icosapent Ethyl Soft Capsules will further enrich Kexing Biopharm's overseas cardiovascular product portfolio and provide patients with more treatment options in international markets.
